In order to meet fire protection requirements at the same time, it was necessary to ensure that the wooden facades integrated on two of the building sections were flame-retardant.

Bell Rock Hotel, Europa-Park

Located in the town of Rust on the French-German border, Europa-Park is Germany’s largest theme park. When building the Bell Rock hotel, the owners and architects wanted to give the building complex a New England feel.

In order to meet fire protection requirements at the same time, it was necessary to ensure that the wooden facades integrated on two of the building sections were flame-retardant.

BASF products in use

This was achieved in a reliable, sustainable and authentic way by pressure impregnating the timber profiles with the effective fire protection salt Wolmanit® Firestop. A coating system specially adapted to the impregnation was also used to protect the salts against leaching, which was colored corn yellow and off-white to fit the New England theme.

Following their positive experiences, the owners of Europa-Park are also using the proven fire protection system from BASF Wolman GmbH in the new Krønasår museum hotel in the Rulantica water world, which is due to open in 2019. The new hotel takes the form of a Nordic natural history museum in the style of the Speicherstadt district of Hamburg.
